LangCity Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

LangCity ("the app", "the game") is a Japanese-learning game operated by Ajith Berlin A ("we", "us", "the operator"). By playing LangCity — as a guest or with a signed-in account — you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. The service

LangCity is a top-down 2D game where you walk around a small Japanese town, talk to NPCs, and practise Japanese vocabulary and grammar through missions, quizzes, and AI-generated conversations. You can play as a guest (no account, local progress only) or sign in with Google or Apple to sync your progress and unlock AI chat, translation, and voice features. The full offline Japanese world (map data, audio) is a free download available to every player, guest or signed in.

3. Accounts

Signing in uses Google or Apple as your identity provider — Google via OAuth through Supabase Authentication, Apple via Sign in with Apple — we never see or store your Google or Apple password. You're responsible for keeping that account secure; anyone with access to it can access your LangCity progress. Guest progress is stored only on your local device and is not backed up by us.

4. Credits, and the LangCity Unlimited subscription

LangCity uses in-game "credits" to meter AI-powered chat, translation, and voice features. Credits have no cash value, aren't redeemable for money, and can't be transferred between accounts.

Signed-in players start with a small balance of free credits to try these features. To keep using them after that balance runs out, you can subscribe to LangCity Unlimited — a real-money, auto-renewing subscription available as weekly, monthly, or yearly plans, which grants a recurring credit allowance each billing period.

• Price and billing period for each plan are shown in the app before you buy, and are charged to your Apple ID, Google Play, or (on the web) RevenueCat Billing account at confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-renewal — your subscription automatically renews for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your payment method will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Managing or cancelling — open Settings → Manage in the app at any time, which opens the subscription management flow for however you subscribed (App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat Billing's customer portal on the web). You can also manage it directly from your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals but your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies (or RevenueCat Billing's for web purchases) — we can't issue refunds directly and don't control their outcome.

Subscription purchases are processed by our payments provider, RevenueCat — see our Privacy Policy for what data that involves.

5. AI-generated content

NPC replies, translations, generated missions, and Voice Mode's speech transcription/synthesis are produced by AI models from our third-party providers. They're intended to help you practise, not as a certified or professional translation or transcription service — AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or occasionally strange. Don't rely on it for anything where a mistranslation could cause harm (medical, legal, safety-critical, or similarly sensitive situations).

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to access another player's account or data;
• Interfere with or disrupt the app, its servers, or its AI backend (e.g. abuse, scraping, or automated overload);
• Use the app to generate or request content unrelated to Japanese-language learning that violates applicable law; or
• Reverse-engineer the app beyond what's permitted by applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

The LangCity game, its code, art, and original content are owned by the operator or used under license. Playing the game doesn't transfer any ownership of that content to you. Your own gameplay data (mission progress, chat history) is yours in the sense described in our Privacy Policy, including your right to delete it.

8. Ending your account

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → account section → Delete Account inside the app — this permanently removes your account and all associated game data (see the Privacy Policy's Deleting your account section for exactly what's removed). We may also suspend or terminate access for violating these Terms.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active LangCity Unlimited subscription — cancel that separately first (see §4), or it will keep renewing and billing you even after your in-app account and data are gone.

9. No warranty

LangCity is a free, independently developed project provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We don't guarantee the app will always be available, error-free, or that AI features will always work as expected.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of LangCity.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
