LangCity Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 22, 2026 (revised)
This policy explains what personal information LangCity ("the app") collects, why, and how you can have it deleted. LangCity is operated by Ajith Berlin A. Questions? Email ajth@alphberlin.com.
1. Information we collect
If you play as a guest: we collect nothing. Your progress is stored only in your browser/device's local storage and never leaves it.
If you sign in with Google or Apple:
- Account profile — your name, email address, and (Google only) profile picture, provided by Google or Apple through Supabase Authentication when you sign in. Apple lets you choose to share a private relay email address instead of your real one — we only ever see whatever address you choose to share.
- Gameplay data — XP, credits, mission and quiz progress, and skill mastery history, stored in our Supabase database and tied to your account so it follows you across devices.
- Chat and translation text — before your first use of AI chat, translation, or voice features, the app asks you to explicitly agree that the message text you send will be shared with a third-party AI provider (by default, the OpenAI API) to generate a response. Nothing is sent until you agree. This only happens for signed-in users; guests can't use these features.
- Voice recordings and speech audio — Voice Mode (a LangCity Unlimited feature) is covered by that same AI consent agreement. When you use the microphone button, your recording is sent to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, to transcribe what you said. When you tap to hear an NPC line read aloud, the message text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate the spoken audio. We don't keep a copy of your recordings ourselves; ElevenLabs processes them to produce that one response, subject to their own privacy policy and retention practices.
- Subscription and purchase data — if you subscribe to LangCity Unlimited, our payments provider, RevenueCat, receives your purchase/transaction information from the App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat Billing (for web) to activate your subscription, and links it to your account so your entitlement follows you across devices. We never see or store your card number — that's handled entirely by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat Billing's payment processor.
2. How we use this information
Solely to run the game: authenticate you, save and sync your progress, generate AI conversation/translation responses, and — for free players only — show ads through Google AdMob. LangCity Unlimited subscribers never see ads. We don't sell your data.
3. Who we share information with
We use the following third-party service providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
- Google / Apple — whichever you choose to sign in with, provides sign-in (OAuth) identity.
- Our AI provider (OpenAI's API by default) — receives the text of chat/translation requests you send, in order to generate a reply. We don't control how long that provider retains request data on their end; see their own privacy policy for details.
- ElevenLabs — receives your voice recordings (for transcription) and NPC message text (for speech synthesis) when you use Voice Mode. Same caveat as above: retention on their end is governed by their own privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — processes subscription purchases and manages your entitlement status; receives your device/store purchase data and a subscriber ID linked to your account.
- Google AdMob — if you're a free player on iOS or Android, AdMob serves the ads you see in the app. It may process your advertising identifier (or a non-personalized substitute if you decline tracking permission) and an approximate, IP-based location to select and measure ads. This doesn't apply to LangCity Unlimited subscribers, or to the web/desktop versions of the app. See Google's privacy policy for details.
We don't share your data with anyone else.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (see below), everything we store about you is removed.
5. Children's privacy
LangCity is not directed at children under 13, and we don't have a verified parental-consent process. Please don't use the sign-in or AI features if you're under 13. Ads are served under AdMob's standard (not child-directed) treatment.
6. Your rights, and deleting your account
If you signed in with Google or Apple, you can permanently delete your account at any time, entirely yourself, with no need to contact us:
- Open Settings in the app (gear icon).
- In the account section, tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning, type DELETE into the field, and tap the confirm button (only enabled once you've typed it).
This immediately and permanently deletes your account and every piece of gameplay data tied to it — mission progress, XP, credits, and skill history. This cannot be undone. Message text already sent to our AI provider in earlier sessions is subject to that provider's own retention policy and isn't something we can retroactively delete on their systems.
Guests never have a server-side account, so there's nothing for us to delete — clearing your browser's local storage removes your local guest progress.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active LangCity Unlimited subscription — subscriptions are billed by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat Billing and must be cancelled through Settings → Manage subscription in the app, or directly in your Apple ID / Google Play account settings, before deleting your account. See our Terms of Service for details.
For any other request — accessing, correcting, or exporting your data — email ajth@alphberlin.com.
7. Security
Your data is protected by Supabase's row-level security, scoped so only your own account can read or write your data. No method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
9. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of India.
